Data protection enjoys a very high priority, especially for all medical data. When it comes to web-based transmission of patient data, data protection is therefore always an issue.
Quite rightly, in our opinion!
Christian Pohlkamp, MD, from the Munich Leukemia Laboratory:
The information transmission process with a digital, web-based portal such as the order entry and findings portal system is now much more secure than faxing, for example. To stay with the example, faxing used to be based on an end-to-end telephone connection. In the meantime, analogue data packets are digitised and usually sent unencrypted via less transparent email distribution lists. This is anything but state-of-the-art in terms of data protection.
The digital processes using current encryption technologies, which underlie the DORNER portals, are much more secure than email and fax communication. Irrespective of this, our customers as diagnostics and research companies that process, deposit and store patient data in a wide range of areas are enormously interested in complying with all aspects of the European GDPR.
So data protection is one more argument for DORNER portals like Order Entry!
